As part of the only cross-campus leadership annual giving program at UCLA, Chancellor’s Society donors like you are invited to save the date to attend our exclusive Chancellor’s Society Bruin Woods Weekend*. Every year, this dedicated community gathers in picturesque Lake Arrowhead to relax and reconnect with one another and UCLA, with a special faculty presentation about the innovative work being done on our campus. This year, we’ll have a special presentation from Professor Paul Habibi of the UCLA Anderson School of Management and UCLA School of Law.

This all-inclusive three-day getaway boasts stunning Lake Arrowhead views, charming chalet-style accommodations, gourmet meals, and a wealth of activities for all ages—including a fun-filled, kids-only camp chaperoned by trained UCLA student counselors.

Bruin Woods Weekend is held at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center, just a two-hour drive from Los Angeles. The forested mountaintop setting, sparkling clear air, and fresh fragrance of pines are a welcome escape from the hustle of city life.

  • Bruin Wood’s exclusive children’s program—for kids ages 3 through 18—allows your child to enjoy age-appropriate activities supervised by our extraordinary team of UCLA student camp counselors
  • Your child will enjoy a day filled with activities—including arts and crafts, games, sports, nature walks and more—with kids close to their own age. Rest assured, our teenage guests have a program tailored to their interests too!

Faculty Presentation – Professor Paul Habibi

The U.S. Economy – Where We Are and Where We’re Headed

Professor Paul Habibi will guide us through a snapshot of where the macroeconomy is headed, and highlight the opportunities and challenges to come. We will explore some of the latest headline news and data points, and determine what it means for the near-and mid-term future.

 

Paul Habibi is a Continuing Lecturer of Finance and Real Estate at UCLA Anderson School of Management and Lecturer in Law at UCLA School of Law. He is consistently a top finalist for the Teacher of the Year Award and began his teaching career at UCLA in 2004.

Widely quoted, he has appeared on BBC World News, Bloomberg, CNN, FOX News, NBC’s The Today Show, NPR, and all major dailies including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Financial Times. A highly sought-after speaker, he regularly presents to leading business, government, and nonprofit organizations.

Outside of campus, Professor Habibi is Principal and Co-Founder of Habibi Properties, LLC, which owns and manages three divisions: (1) multi-family apartments in the Los Angeles area; (2) single-family homes in Kansas City, Missouri (Arrowhead Residential Funds); and, (3) almond and pistachio orchards in California’s San Joaquin Valley.

He is also Principal of Grayslake Advisors, LLC, which provides expert witness and litigation support services to large multinational law firms, Fortune 500 companies, and government and regulatory agencies. The firm has been retained in some of the highest profile cases in the country. Its clients include Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Company, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Do I have to be a UCLA alumnus to attend?

No. In fact, that is what is so special about this Chancellor’s Society Bruin Woods Weekend—as a valued leadership donor, you don’t need to be a UCLA graduate to enjoy the program.

What is the cost to attend?

This weekend is offered to our Chancellor’s Society donors at the Associate level and above at the exclusive pricing of $520 per adult (ages 15 and older) and $395 per child (ages 3-14), based on double occupancy.

What does my Chancellor’s Society Bruin Woods Weekend reservation include?

Your Chancellor’s Society Bruin Woods Weekend includes condolet accommodations for two nights, six chef-prepared meals, a cocktail reception, all-day children’s programs, activities just for adults, and unforgettable memories your family will cherish for years to come.

What is your refund policy?

We are happy to offer you a full refund if your reservation is cancelled before 5 P.M. on March 24, 2020. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any refund after March 24, 2020.

Can I travel by myself?

Absolutely! Prices listed are based on double-occupancy. Please give us a call at 1-310-794-6946 for single-occupancy pricing.

What time should I arrive?

Room check in begins at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2020, but you are welcome to enjoy the grounds beginning at 2 p.m. The welcome reception begins at 4:30 p.m. Room check out is at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2020—however meals and programming continue through 2 p.m.

Will I need a sleeping bag or other camping gear for Bruin Woods?

No. Bruin Woods has beautiful, well-appointed lodging called condolets that are included in the pricing for this event. Each condolet–condo plus chalet–has a bed, bathroom and full amenities appropriate to the size of your party.

Can I bring my children or grandchildren?

Yes. We offer special kids’ programming for children ages 3-18, including specialized activities, hiking and sports. All of the programming is led by highly-trained, UCLA student counselors.
